Praying to the Almighty for World Peace

Open Bible resting on a rock outdoors

Every first Friday, our sanctuary stays open until midnight for one purpose: peace. Not as an idea, but as intercession — naming streets, cities, and nations before God until the candles burn low.

We pray in three circles. First, for our own valley: the schools, the night-shift nurses, the families behind closed doors. Second, for our nation: leaders, peacemakers, and everyone caught in division. Third, for the world: war zones our missionaries write home about, and famines the headlines have moved past.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."

How to join the peace vigil

Come for ten minutes or ten hours. Prayer guides are printed in four languages, the chapel is silent from 9 PM, and our prayer team sits ready in the side room for anyone who wants to be prayed with personally.

Peace starts on our street

We also keep a neighbourhood peace list: feuds to mend, fences to fix, apologies owed. Members take one card a month and act on it. Last year the wall in the foyer held 400 answered cards — each one a small treaty signed in love.

Bring a friend to the next vigil. The doors open at 6 PM, the coffee is strong, and the Prince of Peace is already in the room.
